THE CREATIVEHEALING PROJECT PARTNERS WITH THE LANCE ARMSTRONG FOUNDATION TO HELP PEOPLE LIVING WITH CANCER

The Creative Healing Project Receives $40,000 to Support “Listen Up!”program.

San Francisco, CA — August 1, 2004 — The Creative Healing Project received $40,000 from the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) to help fund “Listen Up!”  The Creative Healing Project is an innovative 501(C)3 Not-for-Profit Charity that uses art to transform and connect children, youth and adults experiencing isolation and loss due to illness, trauma and other life changing events. Art is used as an empowering process to develop each person's potential for healing, wholeness and communication. The new Listen Up! program offers young cancer survivors the opportunity to express themselves creatively, connect with their peers, access emotional support, and strengthen their healing process through: 1) facilitated expressive arts groups; and 2) a unique publication highlighting the experiences of young people in all stages of cancer survivorship. Because young people surviving cancer experience extreme isolation during an already emotionally challenging stage of life, it is extremely important that they have access to support and a chance to share their experiences with their peers. Listen Up! improves the quality of life for adolescents and young adults surviving cancer by reducing their sense of isolation and supporting healing through the expressive arts.
